Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist and political activist, born into slavery in Maryland U.S.A she was forced to work from the age of five, orginally named Araminta “Minty” Ross she changed her name to Harriet Tubman when making her dangerous journey to freedom. Once free she made repeated missions back to free others, Harriet served in the Civil War and in later life became an activist for womens rights, a truly inpsirational character and symbol of strength, hope and bravery.
