Pokko & The Drum – Workshop

Sat 20th April 11.30am-4.30pm, The Heath Bookshop Literature & Music Festival

Help us create a short performance based on the book Pokko & The Drum by Matthew Forsythe.

“The biggest mistake Pokko’s parents ever made was giving her the drum…”
It’s a thought that has crossed the minds of many a parent! And it will be our starting point as we set off to make a right old racket in celebration of The Heath Bookshop’s inaugural Literature & Music festival.

Throughout this one day workshop we will work together to create a short performance based on the book Pokko & The Drum by Matthew Forsythe, this performance will then be the center piece to the Pokko & The Drum parade on Sunday 21st April. The day will be divided into 3 sections of storytelling, music and costume creation, it will be delivered by Sarah Hamilton Baker, Ben Sadler & Jenny Moore and will take place at Kings Heath Library.

Children can be dropped off at Kings Heath Library between 11.15am-11.30am and collected at 4.30pm, we will provide breaks during the day, children will need to bring a packed lunch with them. All facilitators are DBS checked and used to working with young people. Everyone that signs up for the workshop must also be available on Sunday 21st April 1pm – 2.40pm for the parade.

The price is £30 per person all materials included.
