Books that originate in languages other than our own open up a world of exploration, experiencing things from other peoples view points, finding out about what life’s like in other parts of the world!! which is why we’re celebrating World Kid Lit month with a translation workshop for young folks, led by local translator Ruth Donnelly in partnership with The Emma Press.

During the workshop we’ll look at “When You Were A Cloud” an enchanting children’s poetry collection written by Chilean author María José Ferrada, translated by Lawrence Schimel, and illustrated by Azul López, alongside some other picture books that have been translated into English. We’ll do some simple translations and play a translation based game or two. No knowledge of languages other than the ones you currently speak, is necessary!

The event will be led by Ruth Donnelly in partnership with The Emma Press. It is aimed at children aged 7+, children can attend by themselves or with a parent / carer.
